Halloweens released showed everyone that a horror movie does not need to be full of blood and gore to make you jump. Carpenter along with Debra Hill crafted a script that helped launch the genre as we knew it. Besides a killer script i dont think that the picture would not have that had the same feeling if it was not for the cast of

Donald Pleasance
Jaime Lee Curtis
Nancy Loomis
Charles Cyphers
P.L (See anything you like) Soles

And even knowing he did not have any speaking in the film Nick Castle he was fucking brilliant as Myers. the way he walked and all his little movements like the head turn after he kills PJ's boyfriend. Anyone looking to get into horror this is a must see at least once

I think Halloween is the mold on how to make a slasher work. The other thing i love is that Carpenter and Hill went with the no gore route, they knew how to make people jump without the blood and gore which i think made this movie that much better

Yea, there was hardly any blood in this film. But they made it so effective. If it was a blood y/gory film it probably wouldn't be as great.

I remember after the first time seeing it I had trouble sleeping for days.
SO FUCKING COOL!!! myers

every other slasher flick owes John Carpenter BIG time

and I really do have a thing for Jaime Lee Curtis

PS. let us never speak of the shitty shitty remake..... Evil or Very Mad

Maybe, but that is a matter of opinion...he called Halloween his "Argento" film...

Personally, I think the modern slasher owes everything to Mario Bava...

I like Halloween...great film, I'm just kind of burnt out on it...

I have a copy of the workprint if you wanna check it out...it is not horrible, but it is not good either...

I still have not seen the theatrical version of the remake which is a lot different from the workprint I have...

I think the remake would have been fine if they just made it a prequel...there was a lot of cool stuff in it, but then they crammed the remake portion into the last half hour and it was just too rushed and, well, sucked...

H2O...really? I almost walked out of the theater on that one...

Halloween III is the second best in the series by far!!! All I really need is I and III...II is ok as well...the rest, I don't care for...

Yeah always loved H20, liked how they made Michael kind of over the top on the stealth used in his tactics. I also thought the idea of reuniting Laurie Strode & Myers, pure brilliance! Not to mention the nod to Psycho with the Janet Leigh cameo & she had the exact same model car as she did it Psycho! that was a cool idea!

Maybe I need a rewatch...the only time I saw it was in the theater, and I hated it...I also hated H6 when I saw it in the theater...so I don't have a good track record with the later Halloweens...

I seen H6 in the Theater as well, oddly enough I liked it more then, but not so much now, I own them all for completest reasons, but H20 by far my favorite of the newer ones, basically you can look at it like Halloween 3-6 never existed & H20 is the sequel to Halloween II, just picked up x amount of years down the road, makes perfect sense really, if you follow me...

Well Halloween III was in and of its own...

Originally, Carpenter wanted to have three seperate stories tied in with Halloween (the season)

But, since the first one took off like it did, that changed his plans a bit...and HIII does not get received well because it was so different...

No one should ever forget Halloween III...it is such a great flick...

Oh I agree & understand, I just added it in for the fact it was on it's own!! A classic yes, one that has taken a LONG time to grow on me.
